Andarivaadu (2005)

Trigger warning for rats. Again. Fuck my life. Also, I technically saw Ek Aur Himmatwala, the Hindi dubbed version. I really want to meet the people who provide titles for the Hindi dubbed versions- Venkatesh's 2002 movie Vasu has been dubbed into Hindi as Cheetah the Leopard and I see no chance of me ever getting over that.

As always, the phobia-induced anxiety didn't hit until after the movie was over, and I must say I'm glad for that. Obviously, I think the movie could have been more enjoyable had that rat not played such a pivotal role. That being said, the movie was actually very entertaining- great comic timing by Chiranjeevi (in a father-son double role, wow), and Sunil (as always). This was incidentally my first Chiru movie, and I am honestly excited for more. Tabu garu was grossly under-utilised, and mis-utlised (like L pointed out), but the 'Ammamma Nee Messam' music video kindaaaa makes up for it. Oh, judge me all you want, as if you have never had an intense crush on an actress and watched anything that starred her because it's been 5 years since you came out, and dammnit it's liberating to be thirsty out in the open (damnit, I should have saved this sentence for when I watch Pandurangadu).

One thing that really got to me in this movie was the fact that Chiranjeevi dances SO WELL. I mean, I had watched an entire YouTube playlist (god bless friends who are as intensely fandom-oriented as you) of his iconic music videos, and loved it, but it's an entirely different experience watching it happen in a movie. Also, this movie surprisingly left me quite emotional, something that rarely happens in a movie of this kind. It's the Megastar magic, I suppose, because I literally cannot come up with any other explanation.

In conclusion, Sunil is the funniest. He can make me laugh hysterically with just one simple change in expression. I can't wait to see more of him. And someone please give Tabu garu a meatier role in Telugu movies (SCREAMING INTERNALLY FOR NINNE PELLADATHA SEQUEL).
