Alludugaru (1990)

Full offence, but Chiranjeevi should have been cast for Vishnu's role, instead of Mohan "Fasak" Babu. I was so pissed off throughout the movie, literally all because of him. The more I think about it, the more enraged I feel, because it was genuinely a very funny movie. Very sad also I guess, towards the end, but by then I had become too numb to properly respond to what was happening. Also the idea of Shobana falling in love with that man will always be supremely preposterous, and that's on that. 

This was another movie where Ramya ma'am was massively under-utilised- they should have cut Mohan Babu's scenes to make way for ma'am. I am just so furious by the fact that this movie had so much potential, but it all went down the drain. How many men does it take to ruin a movie? Just one, when he's as annoying on screen as Mohan fasakking Babu. Hats off to Chandra Mohan though, for giving so many laughs and managing to engender some tenderness too. The scenery was beautiful, the music was great, Shobana was A1- I should have ideally given this movie 5 stars, but it deserves only 3, all thanks to HIM. Ugh.

Special mention to KRR for abstaining from fruits in this one. Did not need that on top of whatever the fasak was going on with HIM. 

Universe, please let my next Ramya movie be as awesome as TSK. I don't ask for much, just come through this time. I am begging.

PS- In a movie that stars both Shobana and Ramya, which idiot thinks of beginning the movie with a montage of Mohan Babu? Fasak, fasak, fasak. Major fasak.

There is honestly nothing more annoying than a movie that has flashes of being a good movie, but turns out to be a bad one anyway. Aasai (1995)

My only regret is that I wish I knew absolutely nothing about this movie before watching it. I know I'm 26 years too late to the party, but honestly, not knowing the basic premise would have made things even more scary and messed up, not that there wasn't enough of those sentiments already. But to watch it unfold like the psychotic drama it was on the big screen, while innocently expecting another cute sweet love story featuring foetus Thala... I would give anything to have that experience. I know we love poking fun at Prakash Raj for being the evergreen villain, but it takes an Aasai for one to truly understand why he's earned that reputation. Pokiri (2006)

Sairam, thank god I had forgotten the "twist", despite having seen Bhai's Wanted (2009) when it came out. Not only was I majorly zoned out (so much that I don't even remember for sure if I slept for sometime in the middle) but I have also actively tried to erase all memories of it. Which is why I was shocked enough to legit scream when the big twist came along.  From what I have heard about Pokiri , it sounds like some kind of cultural reset. And going by that, I must say that it totally lived up to that hype. Prince Mahesh seems to be at the peak of his career, and it's a performance that is memorable in more ways than one- he really shines through as the cool, stylish hero who outsmarts villains and beats them up. Of course, he needs a solid story and some killer dialogues as well, both of which are amply present here.
